In Germany, seat reservations are optional and not compulsory on the ICE / IC / EC. The reservation fee for second class is approximately 5 euros.
In France, seat reservations are either compulsory or recommended depending on the train. Remember to check for the most up-to-date reservation fees when making your actual reservations, as they can vary and are subject to change.
- InterCités: Trains with compulsory reservation have a fee of 10 euros for second class. If all the 10 euros seats are booked, the reservation fee may increase to 20 euros. Trains with recommended reservation have a fee of 1.50 euros for second class.
- TGV: Reservation is compulsory for TGV trains. The reservation fee for second class is approximately 10 euros. If all the 10 euros seats are booked, the reservation fee may increase to 20 euros.
